DIAMONDS

The Right Diamond for You

The Right Diamond for You

Whether you’re planning an engagement or looking for a special gift for yourself or significant other, choosing the right diamond can be intimidating. Because we source diamonds from partner dealers, individuals and estate sales, we’re able to get high quality diamonds, including GIA lab graded diamonds, while keeping prices very competitive. We encourage you to shop around at retail stores then stop by our office, compare prices, and see the difference for yourself. We have natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, and responsibly sourced natural diamonds with 100% traceable origin.

Cut

The beauty of a diamond depends more on cut quality than anything else. Diamonds are renowned for their ability to transmit light and sparkle intensely, and cut quality is what determines a particular diamond’s fire, sparkle and brilliance. We often think of a diamond’s cut as shape (round, oval, emerald, etc.), but a diamond’s cut grade is about how well a diamond’s facets interact with light. Precise artistry and workmanship are required to fashion a stone so that its proportions, symmetry, and polish deliver the magnificent return of light only possible in a diamond.

Color

Diamond color is all about what you can’t see. Diamonds are valued by how closely they approach colorlessness – the less color, the higher their value, except, of course, for fancy colored stones.  GIA’s diamond D-to-Z color-grading scale is the industry’s most widely accepted grading system. The scale begins with the letter D, representing colorless, and continues, with increasing presence of color, to the letter Z. Many of these color distinctions are so subtle that they are invisible to the untrained eye; however, these distinctions make a very big difference in diamond quality and price.

Clarity

Because diamonds are formed deep within the earth under extreme heat and pressure, they often contain unique birthmarks, either internal (inclusions) or external (blemishes). Diamond clarity refers to the absence of these inclusions and blemishes. Diamonds with no inclusions or blemishes are rare, and rarity affects a diamond’s value. Using GIA's International Diamond Grading System™, diamonds are assigned a clarity grade that ranges from internally flawless (FL) to diamonds with obvious inclusions (I3). No diamond is absolutely perfect under 10× magnification, though some come close. Known as Flawless diamonds, these are exceptionally rare, and most jewelers have never even seen one.
